The Epic of Gilgamesh is about the king of Uruk (later Mesopotamia aka Iraq… well, a part of it) The epic of Gilgamesh is one of the oldest works of literary fiction. At least some scholars do not object to referring to Gilgamesh as a historical figure. (tablets were found confirming the historical existence of other historical figures associated with him) If so, he reigned about 2600BC.
